This involves kids trying to figure out the answer to a real life problem. So we discovered a real life problem on our campus to figure out. About 4 weeks ago, there was an unexplained abundance of frogs, or toads possibly, outside around our new portables. They were everywhere! Then within a week, they were gone!
Here in lies our question...What were they, frogs or toads? Where did they come from all of a sudden? Where did they go?
Here are some pictures of the tadpoles and frogs/toads we found during that week. We had the tadpoles for about 4 weeks. They had begun to grow their back legs, but they dies before fully developing. It is strange how we saw baby frogs that would fit on your pinky nail within days of finding the tadpoles, but the ones we had in our classroom barely got theor back legs in 4 weeks.

After recording all the notes from our research, we had to organize or information and decide how to share our research. Here is the results on how we decided to organize our notefacts.
This is how we are splitting up this large task of sharing our research. The Fourth Graders will be stating our big questions and the steps involved in answering those questions. The First Graders will be showing the lifecycle of frogs and toads. The fourth graders will be telling all about frogs. The First graders will be telling all about toads. Together we will be stating our conclusions about our questions using our research. When we finish, we will post all this information here for you to see.
